On Thursday, August 30, CDS First through Sixth Graders traveled to the St. Louis Science Center to view the spring and summer’s popular special exhibit, Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission. Only four science museums in the entire nation were asked to host the traveling exhibition, featuring authentic artifacts from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Among them, the Apollo 11 command module Columbia—the only part of the spacecraft from the very first mission to land a man on the moon and return (a 238,000 mile trip)!

The all-day field trip served as a great kick off for the 2018-19 Robotics season and this year’s theme, Into Orbit, and included a group design-build challenge and time to view the interactive exhibit. Thanks to Mrs. Martin and all of the parent and faculty volunteers who helped make this unforgettable day a success!
