Though small in size , Scotland , Indiana is big on heart with an active historical society , veterans memorial , and an annual Scotland Festival every third Saturday in September . Scotland is home to the Scotland Hotel , built by William H . Haig in the

1870 ’ s , and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 . The once busy hotel is now a well preserved museum where visitors to Scotland can get a feel for what life was like in the

The museum and barber shop are just two of the many repurposed historical buildings that dot Scotland ’ s landscape . The annual Scotland Festival is held as a fundraiser for the preservation of Scotland ’ s historic places .
