The Honors College Thesis Poster Presentations The Honors College Commencement Celebration W2020 | Page 3

What follows is a celebration. Not only a celebration of graduation -- though indeed each of these students is a graduating senior here at Oakland University -- but a wonderful celebration of resilience, creativity, engagement and inspiration. These are graduating seniors from The Honors College at Oakland University. They have completed all other requirements to graduate from The Honors College -- but it is this evidence of what is for most of them is the final requirement (The Honors College thesis) that truly sets them apart. What you will find displayed here is a record of notable research and creative activities. Their achievement in these areas goes well beyond those of the average undergraduate, nationally and internationally. What is in evidence here is work of the highest caliber – undertaken with focus, imagination and dedication that sets these graduates apart. Here too is a heartfelt celebration of mentorship. A recognition of the many mentors who have worked so closely with these students to make these projects a reality. Their names are mentioned too in the record that follows. My personal thanks to them! This is a celebration too of The Honors College faculty and Graduate Assistants who began the process with these students in the HC3900 Research and Scholarship course that formed the bedrock on which these projects were built. Many of The Honors College seniors completing projects this winter did so in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic that swept across the world at the beginning of 2020. That these students completed their projects at all is incredible. That they did it so very well is quite simply astounding. Hearty congratulations to each and all! all best wishes Graeme Professor Graeme Harper BA MLitt DCA Ph.D. FRSA FRGS FRAI Dean, The Honors College Graeme Harper 3 Dean ^Click Image to Play Video^ e Dear Friends of The Honors College
