Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with opaline-white dial in 2004 and its subsequent sale on 18 November 2004 .
The perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch , reference 3970 , was released from 1986 to 2006 . It was cased in platinum , white gold , pink gold and yellow gold . There are three series in which reference 3970 was produced : The first series featured a snap back case .
The second series featured a solid case back , and was produced concurrently with reference 3971 with a snap sapphire case back .
The third series was accompanied with “ E ” for étanche , or waterproof . They came with both a sapphire and solid screw backs for all watches .
3970 was the first reference to use a Lemania 2310 based movement , not a Valjoux movement .
Fresh to the market , the present watch is from the very last series of reference 3970 , and purchased the very year that this reference ceased production . It is furthermore presented in excellent overall condition with strong fluting to the lugs and very crisp hallmarks under the lugs .
