Photo by Abby Wenger WHS Girls Soccer Preview by Jerry Hostetler Even though coach Jon Jantzi’s Westview girls soccer team lost some key personnel from last year’s 13-6-1 squad, Jantzi still feels that his team has the potential to have a strong season. Those lost to graduation were Michelle Mowery, Morgan Jantzi and Stephenie Hochstetler, all First Team All-NECC Conference selections. Mowery, a forward/mid-fielder, was the team’s leading scorer with 19 goals, Jantzi, a defender, was a part of 11 shutouts for the Lady Warrior soccer team and Hochstetler, who served as the team’s goal keeper, garnered 95 saves last season. Brooke Schwartz, defender/mid-fielder and Kayla Yoder, mid-fielder were also key contributors lost to graduation. Coach Jantzi has 12 returning letter winners coming back from last year’s team, senior Amber Roth, who scored 1 goal last year is the only senior returning from last year. Four juniors are returning for the Lady Warriors, Stephanie Mowery, who scored 15 goals, dished out seven assists and was named 2nd-Team All-Conference last year; Tori Oesch, eight goals, two assists and named 2nd-Team AllConference, Maddie Jones, three goals and one assist; Defender, Taylor Jones rounds out the junior class returners.
