Putting On The Armor Of God
phesians 6:11 tells us
how to arm ourselves
against the evil we find
in the world. “Put on the
whole armor of God, that you may be
able to stand against the schemes of
the devil.” Here is what that armor
looks like:
Belt of Truth – Living a life of Truth.
Not deceiving others, but also
not deceiving yourself about your
strengths or weaknesses. The child
of God is to be armed with the
Truth.
Breastplate of Righteousness –
Living a life that is right with
God. This protects us from a lot of
“junk” that comes our way in life.
Shoes for the Gospel of Peace – Our
Shoes should look worn as we constantly and consistently hear and
obey God’s voice calling us to take
his message to the people around
us.
Shield of Faith – Faith to extinguish
the flaming darts of the evil one.
Faith overcomes doubts and hurts.
Helmet of Salvation – Your Salvation
should be like a helmet that you
wear. It’s there for everyone to see,
there is no hiding it.
Sword of the Spirit – This isn’t a
defensive weapon. It’s an offensive
one. God’s Word can strike down
the evil in the world.
But the scripture also ends by saying, “praying at all times in the Spirit,
with all prayer and supplication.”
This armor of God does us no good
if we don’t put it on and don’t “activate”
it by prayer. If we aren’t praying, then
we really haven’t put the armor on.
