Sometimes when you’re feeling important,
Sometimes when your ego’s in bloom,
Sometimes when you take it for granted
You’re the best qualified man in the room;
Sometimes when you think that your going
Would leave an un-fillable hole,
Just follow these simple instructions
And see how they humble your soul:
Take a bucket and fill it with water,
Put your hand in it up to your wrist,
Pull it out and the hole that’s remaining
Is the measure of how you’ll be missed.
You can splash all you wish when you enter,
You may stir up the water galore,
But stop - and you’ll find that in no time
That it looks quite the same as before.
The moral of this quaint example:
Is do just the best that you can,
Be proud of yourself, but remember:
There’s no indispensable man.

are ten minutes late, you should learn to start earlier
the next time. Town cops will help you remember.
On the lighter side ... Two men were talking at a
coffee shop. The first man said, “My wife keeps talking
to herself.” The second man said, “Mine does too ...
she thinks I’m listening!” There are two ways to reach
the top of an oak tree. You can climb it or you can sit
on an acorn and wait.
I recently found these words of wisdom ...

On August 17 at the Topeka Library, the residents
of Topeka gave direction for leadership in their town
government for the next 4 years. The elected officials
Katie Braid as Clerk-Treasurer, Ron Troyer as a council
member, and Pete Kauffman as a council member
will take office on January 1, 2012 and I am sure will
appreciate the resident’s support. “Don’t listen to critics
... Do what has to be done.” “I do therefore desire the
Lord’s wisdom to guide me, and those that may be
concerned with me, that we do the thing that is truly
wise and just,” - William Penn
In all that we do, whether business, government,
industry, church, etc. our thoughts govern our actions in
one way or another, We are reminded of the aphorism,
“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” A person is
literally what they think, our character is a complete
sum of all our thoughts, Men imagine that thought
can be kept secret but it cannot; it rapidly crystallizes
into habit and habit solidifies into circumstance. As
we experience turmoil and unrest in the world, let’s
consider the hometown atmosphere in our local
communities and be thankful for neighbors and friends.
The new school year has started. Students will be
crossing streets so take time and let them cross. If you
