Teachers Become Students For A Day Westview has included three professional development days to its 201213 school calendar, September 20, February 10 and May 12. It is on these days the students get to stay home and the teachers become the students. September 20 included kindergarten through sixth grade teachers listening to presenters about the recent adoption of a new textbook series. The teachers had the opportunity to see all the components, hear how the pieces fit together, and work with teachers throughout the corporation who teach the same grade level. They were also able to share ideas and build communication with each other. Junior High and High School teachers had two technology related presenters who helped them to use more Google applications and implement various types of assessments. Music, art and physical education teachers came together to work with the Common Core State Standards, and align lessons kindergarten through high school which would focus on common vocabulary/definitions, and looking for gaps that might exist in the covering of material in their area.
