Preparing for American Red Cross Project S.A.F.E. Mrs. Stephanie Oakley’s Functional Skills students and Peer Tutors at Westview High School have been working hard to prepare the packets of information for the October 6 American Red Cross Project S.A.F.E project. The students have inserted several flyers and the battery in a plastic door hanger for delivery to individual homes. During this project students were able to accomplish academic math goals and transition goals. They also learned to follow directions, stay on task, and work with others as a team. This is the second year Mrs. Oakley’s students have assisted in the prep- aration of the safety information for distribution to residents of LaGrange County. About 50 volunteers will work in groups to walk from door to door in designated areas to distribute the important safety information on October 6, the beginning of Fire Safety Month. If you are a student who would like to earn community service hours or an adult wishing to help in a community service activity, please contact Jo Schrader, LaGrange County Red Cross Operations Coordinator – 260463-3552 or email at jo.schrader@ redcross.org.
