First grade and third graders at
Shipshewana-Scott Elementary participated in science study with Scott
Beam of the LaGrange Parks Department. He spoke with the first graders
about insects. They examined them
noticing the different body parts. The
third grade students studied the benefits of wetlands to the environment
and the kind of animals that live in
the wetlands.

Revisiting Shipshe
Rosie Swale-Pope, who has completed her 5 year journey to run around
the world for cancer awareness, will be
revisting Shipshewana October 5- 9.
On Friday, October 7, she’ll be at
E&S Sales from 11 am to 3 pm and will
be signing copies of her book “Just a
Little Run Around the World” from 6
to 9 pm at Better World Bookstore in
the Goshen Cancer Center.
In July of 2007, Rosie Swale-Pope
passed through LaGrange County on
what would become a five year journey
to run around the world to raise cancer
awareness. Now finished with her
22,000 mile journey, she is giving talks
and running various marathons. On
top of her incredible world-wide run,
this spring Rosie ran 26 marathons in
26 days. She plans on competing in the
New York City Marathon on Nov. 5.
