The 21st annual David Rogers Days
festival was held on August 27 and
28. Every year, dedicated re-enactors
bring the 1840’s back to life as it was in
Pioneer village and to pay tribute to the
pioneers in LaGrange County.
This family-friendly event saw
activities such as music, storytelling,
muzzle loader demonstrations, candle
making, rag doll making, clay sculpting,
a puppet show, and even a folkdance to
bring out the pioneer in everyone.
As told by event attendee David
Lane, “It is good to see the look on
people’s faces, especially children, when
they understand the way it was back
then. People need to understand where
we came from, and how modern technologies differ from the past.”
The David Rogers Days event is put
on annually by the LaGrange County
Parks and Recreation Department and
is also supported by area businesses.
