Hometown Treasure Photo Westview Jr. /Sr. High School Music Department will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella during the first weekend of November, Friday November 2 at 7:30 pm, Saturday November 3 at 7:30pm and Sunday November 4 at 2:30 pm. According to Westview choir director Jill Hostetler, “Students have been hard at work preparing for the performances with rehearsals since the beginning of September.” She went on to say, “While all roles were determined by audition, many of these students have experience from years of productions, and they can really act a song and sing a scene!” The fairy tale, from long ago, is about a servant girl who is transformed into a princess. It has been an opera, a pantomime, a ballet, an ice show, a comic book and a video game.” pg 60 · The Hometown Treasure · November ‘12 Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella—the song-writing team’s only musical written for television—was seen by over 100 million people in 1957, subsequently remade for TV twice and adapted for the stage. Westview has retained the classic fairy tale aspect which, according to Hostetler, “will be a delight for all members of the family.” A handsome prince finds—and then loses—his own true love. He’ll find her again (in spite of those mean step-sisters with feet too big for the glass slipper) in this song-filled version of the fairy tale about a servant girl who is transformed into a princess. To be guaranteed a seat, tickets may be purchased by calling Westview High School at 768-4146. Most likely tickets will be available at the door. However, you are encouraged to buy your tickets in advance.
