After all he is the one who created the nature of the earth and its contents. The… trees, wildlife, plants, rain water, sun and the moon, etc. Our earth and environment is our respect to one another which it supports life to it’s fullest. We stand at a critical moment in Earth’s history, a time when humanity must choose its future. As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and fragile, the future at once holds great peril and great promise. To move forward we must recognize that in the midst of a magnificent diversity of cultures and life forms we are one human family and one Earth community with a common destiny. We must join together to bring forth a sustainable global society founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace. Towards this end, it is imperative that we, the peoples of Earth, declare our responsibility to one another, to the greater community of life, and to future generations. This is the actual preamble of Earth Day. Did you know that there is a ecology flag created for Earth Day? According to flags of the world, the ecology flag was created by cartoonist Ron Cobb, published on November 7, 1969, in the Los Angeles Free Press, then placed in the public domain. The symbol is a combination of the letters “E” and “O” taken from the words “Environment” and “Organism,” respectively. The flag is patterned after the United States’ flag, with thirteen alternating-green-and-whites stripes. Its canton is green with a yellow theta. Later flags used either a theta or the peace symbol. Theta would later become associated with Earth Day. Walt Kelly’s poster for the first Earth Day reads like this: “We Have Met the Enemy And He Is Us”. It actually shows a child standing in front of two fruit trees with all the trash and waste that we put there. Not by all means a pretty picture. The real simple truth here is, and you may have heard about it is: “Take care of the earth and the earth will take care of you”! I really think you get the full aspect of what Earth Day really represents now, well I sure hope you do. I think if you would really want to grasp this fullcontent of Earth Day then I would recommend that you read the nature Psalms in God’s word they are: Psalms 8, 19, 29, 104, and 148. Praise to the great God of heaven and earth. Enjoy the earth of spring and all it has to offer you! To be completely honest with you, I really did not know the full-scope of earth day until I did some research on the topic. Earth Day is a day that was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson and focuses on environmental awareness. Earth Day was Friday, April 22, 2011 in the United States this year. Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Plant a seed and grow a movement. Or, eat a prune and have a movement. Could this be a start? Yes, it most certainly could very well be. You may want to take a closer look at these movements and decide which one you would choose for this day next year. After all, they can have a positive effect on the environment, now, just think about that one for awhile. I do not want to focus on the political part of Earth Day for which has gotten way out of control. I believe there is enough government movements, that in all respect doesn’t do us all any good when it comes to our earth and environmental issues.
