The music lineup has been set for this years Shipshewana Mayfest festival on May 6 and May 7 and features a few familiar faces as well as some new, fresh ones. Playing off of this years’ theme, “Where Family Comes First” the organizers have put together a list of family-friendly artists who offer a variety of sounds. The Helmsmen Quartet The Helmsmen Quartet, based out of Sturgis, Mich., will get things started at 6:00 pm on Friday, May 6. Their performance will include a variety of musical styles ranging from old time hymns to lively Southern Gospel songs. Page 50 The Russ Lee Band Following them and making their first appearance at Mayfest will be the Desert Road Band from Bremen, IN. The Russ Lee Band from Goshen, IN will be the final act of the evening. They are comprised of a variety of local artists including Sheila Mullet, Matthew Mullet, and Russ Lee. They provide a gospel country sound with goose bump harmonies that are uplifting and encouraging. They will also be doing some yodeling in harmony. On Saturday evening, The Marlin Wagler Family will kick things off at 6:00 pm. They will be making their way to Shipshewana from Daviess County, Southern Indiana. The The Marlin Wagler Family headlining act of the 2-day festival will be local favorite Amos Raber, starting at 7:30 pm. Amos writes many of his own songs and enjoys his gift of singing the yesteryear style of country bluegrass music. All of the concerts will take place in the entertainment tent on the corner of Main Street and Morton Street in downtown Shipshewana. There will also be plenty of local vendors selling delicious food for all in attendance to enjoy.
