Topeka Town News
The first two months of the new
year have been used to reorganize
within the town and to get acquainted
to the new people coming on the board.
January board meetings were used for
the appointments of the new board
members and a clerk/treasurer, and
getting all paper work in order.
The new year has also brought new
changes in how the office is run. We
have had new software installed to
help with record keeping and billing.
You have probably noticed that your
water bills are a little different, which
is in part from the software changes.
Bills will look somewhat similar, but
have more detail to them.
As you may have noticed, this
winter has so far been out of the norm.
With the up and down temperatures
along with the rain and snow, it’s
been rough on the roads and the usual
potholes have started to appear. You
will see the street department out
filling them the best they can until the
weather breaks and they can be fixed
more permanently. Please watch for
the employees on the streets.
The town is also working on the
projects for the upcoming year, which
will involve some paving, along with
the replacement of water and sewer
lines. This is a normal part of keeping
the aging infrastructure of the town
running as smooth as possible.
Papers were signed by all parties
involved with the West Lake street
project and made it final. I would like
to thank all the people involved for a
job well done, and thank the town’s
past board members, clerk/treasurer,
and town manager for their work in
getting the job started and completed.
It has been a 4-5 year project. The road
has been a great addition for the businesses and residents of Topeka, bringing better traffic flow, and safety.
You may have also noticed the
by Ron Eash
addition of an office at the water plant.
We added this in order to provide more
space. The government is going “green”
and therefore more paper work is being filed online. A room for a desk and
computer away from the motors and
tanks of the plant was needed.
