Cultivate Inclusion
Volunteers are the core to the success of the
American Red Cross. Volunteers are individuals who
reach out beyond the confines of paid employment and
normal responsibilities to contribute time and service
to a nonprofit cause in the belief that their activity is
beneficial to others as well as satisfying to themselves.
People volunteer for many different reasons. Whatever
the reason, donating time, talent, and effort has the
potential to bring great benefits.
The Red Cross is an independent, volunteer-led
organization and functions as a not-for-profit, private
organization with public responsibility for funding and
support of all programs. Your support means that local
disaster victims receive food, shelter and emergency
assistance, local children and adults learn valuable
life-saving skills and blood services can be supplied in
a time of need. Red Cross programs help people lead
safer and healthier lives.
The Red Cross of LaGrange County is needing
volunteers and will be holding a Volunteer Call Out
on Tuesday, March 15 . The Volunteer Callout will take
place at the First Church of God, 777 North Detroit
St., in LaGrange from 5 to 7 p. m. (See page 31)
Volunteering is ultimately about helping others and
having an impact on people’s well-being. What better
way is there to connect with your community and give
a little back? Volunteering has a meaningful, positive
impact on your community. But it can have benefits
for you too! Here are some reasons to volunteer:
