Reminiscences of Shipshewana The Shipshewana Area Historical Society (SAHS) will present the second annual Reminiscences of Shipshewana, a celebration of memories from when Shipshewana was a logging town back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. This will be one of the largest demonstrations of old trades of the early 1900’s. The area around the old Farver School, which is now the headquarters and By Jerry Hostetler museum of the SAHS, will be the venue for this event. The event will take place Friday, June 14, from 12 noon to 5:00 pm and Saturday, June 15 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Blacksmithing, Coppersmithing, Basket Weaving, Wood Carving, Wool Spinning and Wheelwrighting will all be demonstrated at this event. Also, there will be displays of hand tools, farm equipment, a steam powered sawmill and other steam engines, old pulleys and gas engines from the early 1900’s. There will be activities for children during the two days as well. The old Farver School is located 2 blocks west of State Road 5 on Main Street in Shipshewana.
