Adam Whitmer, a senior tennis
player at Valparaiso University (Westview H.S. Class of 2008), was recently
named the Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award recipient by the Horizon
League.
Whitmer is the first Westview
tennis player to compete at the Division I level. In his senior season, Adam
played number four singles for most of
the season, winning thirteen singles
matches. He also earned wins in twelve
doubles matches in 2011-2012. Over
his college career, Adam won forty
singles matches and forty-two doubles
contests which ranks him in the top
ten of both categories in the school’s
history. He is the Crusader’s first Horizon League post-season award winner
since the university joined the conference prior to the 2007-2008 season.
Over his high school tennis career,
Adam earned four varsity letters at
Westview with an outstanding record
of ninety wins and only twelve losses.
As a senior he was named to the AllState second team.
