Hoopingarner earned both a gold medal and a first place award at the state competition in April, which advance him to the national level. Skills USA is a organization serving high school and college students who are preparing for careers in the technical, skilled and service occupations. It’s a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure a skilled American workforce by providing quality educational experiences and sound leadership development. Skills USA emphasizes strong work ethics, pride in the dignity of work, and importance of community service. Other accomplishments include four years as the Westview Varsity Boys Basketball Manager, a member of the Topeka Fire Dept., a member of the EACC National Technical Honor Society, 2011 State Level honors in Skills USA Firefighting Competition, and he has already completing EMT courses.
