Westview Elementary Thursday, May 5, the sixth graders at Westview Elementary School went on a field experience to Chicago. As part of the social studies curriculum, the sixth graders took in a big city atmosphere for the day. Students toured Millennium Park where they saw the Cloud, the Crown Fountains, and the outdoor gardens while taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Walking down Michigan Avenue, the students saw the hustle and bustle of big city life like taxis, elevated trains, shops, and the many cultures of people living in the city. The students then took the river and lake tour at Wendella Boats. They took in the many skyscrapers and their architectural features as well as going through the locks to get out into Lake Michigan. Students then took in the city from ninety floors up as they toured the Hancock Observatory. Rounding out the day the sixth graders spent time at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Students stopped their fun to take a group photo. Photo Submitted The third graders gathered on the playground to show their thanks to the businesses that supported the scavenger hunt. Photo Submitted
