Junior High Geography Bee
Westview Junior High School reeight in thousands of schools across
of Defense Dependent Schools worldcently held their annual school Nation- the nation as well as in all Department wide.
al Geographic Bee. Dan Gill, the eighth
grade son of Randy Gill and Janice
Reed of Shipshewana, was declared
the champion, winning in a field of
approximately 400 students. Seventh grader Maggie McCoy, daughter
of Mike and Nicole McCoy of Wolcottville, earned runner-up honors.
Gill will take a written examination to determine if he will advance
to the next level of competition.
The top one hundred students
statewide will compete at a state
level bee in Indianapolis that will be
held in March. The ultimate prize
is the national championship in
Washington, D.C. The winner at the
national level will receive a $25,000
college scholarship.
This is the twenty -fifth year

holding the National Geographic Bee
