Single Parent Christmas Retreat
The 2011 Singles with Children
Christmas Retreat, on December 9-11,
was sponsored by the Brethren Retreat
at Shipshewana Lake. Since 2007 they
have offered this retreat to provide
single parent families the opportunity
to create a Christmas memory for their
children without a financial burden.
This event was FREE to the Single
Parent Families. The cost was covered
by donations from LaGrange County
businesses, community leaders, and
Friends of Camp Shipshewana. Each
family was sponsored by a $150.00
donation. This year they hosted nine
families for a total of 27 participants.
This year was their largest Single
with Children Christmas Retreat. The
families were asked to write a thank
you note to their sponsor following the
event.
The event offered five hearty meals
and two comfortable nights lodging
with lots of holiday focused activities.
