Johnson’s entry, “Home Sweet Home”, was chosen by a panel of judges and was based on creativity, workmanship, and appearance. Johnson is the owner of Rascia’s Creative Cakes in Bristol and offers gingerbread house classes throughout the season. Other winners in the contest were Elaine Gerber and Irene Lehman. Gerber took second place with her entry titled, “Country Road Covered Bridge.” She was awarded $300. Lehman submitted “The Country Church” which earned her third place and $200. Rascia Johnson’s winning entry. Hometown Treasure Photo Kids Day Grand Prize Winner Christmas came two weeks early for one lucky kid in Shipshewana. Alivia Rasler of Wolcottville, IN won the Shipshewana “Kid’s Day” grand prize drawing. Rasler’s name was selected at random from hundreds of tickets entered by participants. Her winnings included a new bicycle from Yoder’s Shipshewana Hardware, a complimentary birthday party for her and eleven friends from Splash Universe Water Park, and a $50 savings bond from Farmer’s State Bank. The annual “Christmas in Shipshewana” event was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Rasler, 6 years old, is the daughter of Stacie and Shane Rasler.
