“Trust is the highest form of human motivation.”
People can be motivated for a number of reasons
such as paycheck, recognition, or any number of
rewards. Still, to be trusted instills confidence to
perform efficient and quality work, which in turn brings
rewards. Now, when trust is broken, those rewards
may in time be reduced or diminished. In our small
community, much has been accomplished in past years
by honor system (trust) and still does, but generally we
are being forced to maintain more hard copy records
(paper files) to satisfy potential liability. I still embrace
the fact too many laws create confusion. My reading
of history convinces me that bad government results
from too much government. In spite of it all, laws are
still in the books and are to be obeyed.
Let’s reflect the past year on the projects of
2010. The projects were mostly street and utility
improvements. Fought Avenue, Babcock Street, and
the South Main Street water main getting replace were
the projects that we saw in 2010. The paving of 700
South from Morrow Street to State Road 5 has been
delayed until 2011.
We welcome Starcraft back in Topeka. Starcraft
dates back into the 1960’s and has been an important
factor of Topeka industrial growth bring jobs and quality
product to this community. Topeka looks forward to
this renewed relationship.
As we wrap up 2010 with all of the National and
world news (much of it negative), I challenge our
local citizens to stay focused on supporting schools,
churches, local business and neighbors. 2011 can bring
good experiences along with the challenges.
