2013 Spelling Bee Champion
Westview Elementary School began its Spelling
Bee competition in November, as fifth and sixth graders participated in a preliminary round written test.
Thirty-four students qualified to advance to the Spelling Bee.
The Spelling Bee took place on Monday, January 14
in the Westview Jr-Sr High School Wilson Auditorium.
Lindsay Stoltzfus, daughter of Rich and Heidi Stoltzfus
of Shipshewana, was declared champion.
Lindsay is a fifth grader in Mrs. Suzie Sheets’s
classroom. Lindsay’s winning words were “consistency”
and “efficient.” Lindsay will advance to the LaGrange
County Spelling Bee to be held Wednesday, January 30
at 4:15 pm in the Westview Jr. Sr High School Auditorium. Kendra Hochstetler, daughter of Myron and
Tressie Hochstetler of Shipshewana, was the spelling
bee runner-up. Kendra is a sixth grader in Mr. Travis
Davis’s classroom. Kendra bowed out of competition on
the word “deodorant.”
