Shipshewana
Town Council
Begins New
Year
By Jerry Hostetler
Elmer Mast and Arlene Lazzaro
were introduced as new Shipshewana Town Council members at
the council’s first meeting of 2013.
Mast and Lazzaro were elected to
four-year terms in last fall’s election. In other matters that transpired at the council meeting on
January 10, the council approved
to have the Hostetler Hudson
Museum floor cleaned at a cost of
$16,770. The cost of the project
will be covered by funds that were
set aside earlier by Eldon Hostetler
specifically for the cleaning project.
Town Manager, Mike Sutter
proposed changing the rate structure for rental of the Town Center.
The previous rent had been eight
cents per square foot and Sutter
proposed to increase it to eleven
cents per square foot. The council
approved the change unanimously.
All existing Town Center rental
contracts will be honored at the
eight cent per square foot rate. Sutter emphasized that the personnel
at the Town Center will continue to
move forward in their mission to
make the Town Center solvent.
