Meadowview Elementary
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week was celebrated
October 22-24, with the theme, Vote
for Smart Choices. The students had
an opportunity to vote for Healthy
Choices for a school lunch in December, an outside activity for a Fitness
Friday, a quiet activity on Pajama Day
in March, and Spirit Day. At a school
wide assembly, six high school stu-

dents talked about keeping minds and
bodies free of drugs in order to do well
academically and to perform athletically and musically. The high school
students were Ted Berger, Austin Borg,
Michelle Mowery, Abby Miller, Nic
Raber, and Savannah Rang.
Meadowview students collected
food items, toiletries, towels, gloves,
and hats for the Clothes and Food Basket the week of October 15-19. During Red Ribbon Week, students could
guess how many cans were collected.
The student from each grade level that
guessed closest to the number was able
to go to the Clothes and Food Basket
with school nurse, Margaret Hostetler,
to deliver all the items collected. There
was more than one student at grades 3
and 4 who guessed the exact amount.
All those students were able to go.
Students going on the “field trip” to the
Clothes and Food Basket were Kevin
Lambright, Melissa Schlabach, Keith
Bontrager, Eva Hostetler, MaryLyn
Yoder, Grace Yoder, Sacha Mitchell,
Jeremy Beachy, and Savannah Huddleston.
