Van Buren St. · Shipshewana, IN Children’s Safety Being Promoted At Westview Home Basketball Games In order to help keep the Westview basketball games safe and enjoyable for everyone, the Westview School Corporation Authorities and the Athletic Department are requiring that children under seventh grade be under the direct supervision of an adult when attending the games. Children are not to be dropped off and picked up later or should not be allowed to wander freely through the school building during games. Basketball games are public performances that are open to all members of our community. The safety of children cannot be guaranteed. Monitoring children at these public performances is the responsibility of the parents or guardians. Children should stay seated during the games. The responsible adult should be aware of where their children are seated and monitor their behavior. No running is permitted in the hallways or up and down the bleachers at any time during basketball games. Children running up and down the bleachers are a danger to themselves as well as others. Any children behaving in an unsafe manner may be detained by the Westview supervisory staff. The adult responsible for the child will be contacted via intercom to come pick them up. Parents’ help in this matter is greatly appreciated. The Hometown Treasure · December ‘12 · pg 3
