As 2011 comes to a close, so does my time served as Clerk-Treasurer. I thank the community for the support and cooperation during these past years. The question I often hear is, “what will you do?” The answer is “live!” As Robert Frost said, “there are many miles to go before I sleep.” by Dewayne Bontrager So many things in our day are built to be obsolete as soon as possible, but the Lord has given us all purpose in life. Friends may fail me, loved ones have gone on before, and often family is preoccupied. At times, one looks to the right and to the left and feel no one cares, but God, the ruler of the universe has said, “I am indeed concerned about you” The Lord watches over my moving and journeying here on earth and time after time opens up refreshing oases along the way. I will find one, I’m sure. We have seen steady growth in Topeka during these years in office. From three major employers to fifteen industrial employers. The assessed value went from 12 million to 100 million and we annexed 260 acres. The park system improvements have received compliments from visitors including State and Federal officials. Many other changes have taken place and change will continue with new council members (Ron Troyer and Pete Kauffman) and the new Clerk-Treasurer (Katie Braid). They will be taking office January 1, 2012. I encourage the continued community support as these people continue to work for community improvement. Meadowview Elementary The 1st and 2nd graders at Meadowview participated in a Fall Festival to enhance their studies on fall and Thanksgiving. They did many activities throughout the day such as tin punch- ing, making pasta necklaces, making turkey cookies, and playing games. Left-Over Letters Spell Out A Message From Melissa!
