Fifth Saturday Event In Shipshewana
The LaGrange County Food & Clothes Basket will be the featured nonprofit organization of the day for the Davis Mercantile 5th Saturday Community Day to be held December 31st, 2011. The merchants of The Davis
Mercantile, located in Shipshewana, IN will be donating a percentage of the
day’s sales to help the organization with ongoing needs and expenses.
currently serves as treasurer of that
board. Even after her daughter Megan
graduated in 2009, she is still willing
to stay on and volunteer.
In 2008 Deb joined the Rainbow
Years Learning Ministry as a volunteer
and now serves as that organization’s
vice president. Rainbow Years is a mission of Shore Mennonite Church which
provides quality childcare to the local
community and surrounding counties.
Deb is a member of Shore Mennonite Church, where she has taught
Sunday school and vacation Bible
school and she has also served as a caring ministry leader.
One of my favorite stories that
Deb shared with me about her passion
for helping and volunteering was,
the hot summer day that she was
driving home from work and she saw
an elderly lady struggling to mow
her grass. Deb promptly pulled over
and finished mowing the lady’s yard.
Deb said, “She was such a sweet lady.
She even offered me cookies when I
finished.”
Deb mentioned that many
people choose to volunteer outside
their community or maybe even
outside their country. Her passion
has always been to volunteer in her
own community, but the important
thing is to find what you’re passionate about and do it!
