Westview School Board
The Westview School Board had a
rare Wednesday evening meeting on
March 13. Buildings, Grounds and
Transportation Director, Jim Hostetler
reported that two boilers were found
to need repair. Superintendant, Randy
Zimmerly reported that the concern
was shared with the corporation’s
performance contracting firm and that
they are expecting an investigation
and report on possible ways to prevent
this in the future.
Replacement of the school’s
telephone system with a VoIP hosted
managed services system provided by
ENA was approved by the board. ENA
was the low quote of the five quotes
received. The estimated total cost for
the three-year contract is $95,057.
The Board also accepted the retirements of teachers, Beth Ann Moeller,
Carol Kirsch and Mark Townsend at
the end of the school year. Carli Cripe
was approved as a long-term substitute
to replace Mandy McDonald while she’s
on leave. Shannon Long and Amanda

Schwartz were approved as part-time
functional skills assistants at Meadowview Elementary. They will replace
Patricia Sines who resigned. The board
also approved the addition of a junior
high assistant track coaching position.
Dr. Zimmerly also reported that
the town of Shipshewana did decide
to move forward with expanding the
Shipshewana Park Board and the town
would notify the Westview board when
necessary. He also reported that the
last day of school would now be Thursday, May 30, but plans are to keep high
school graduation on Friday, May 24.
Activities are being planned for seniors
for the school days after graduation.
Eighth grade graduation is being
moved to Wednesday, May 29, because
the eighth grade Washington, DC trip
