International Kite Teams
Coming to Shipshewana
The third annual Kite Komotion
Clinic & Festival is just another sign
that spring has arrived. Brilliantly
colored, dazzling kites will take to
the skies in Shipshewana on April
27 between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
The event will take place behind the
Shipshewana Event Center/Hostetler
Hudson Auto Museum on South Van
Buren Street (State Road 5) in Shipshe
and is free to the public.
International kite teams will be
performing stunts and demonstrations
to music. The teams are very approachable and eager to assist beginners in
the art of kite flying and the teams will
offer free stunt kite lessons, games and
candy drops for children. The Hoosier
Kitefliers Society will be set up in the
back end of the Hudson Museum to
help children build their own kites.
Materials for kites will be provided
free of charge. Children will be given
instructions on how to make a kite and
then encouraged to fly their kite at the
“Family Fly Field”. Families and kite
enthusiasts are welcome to bring their
own kites to fly as well.
In addition to the kite activities,
Tom “The Bubbleman” Deck will be
on hand to entertain the crowd with
his bubble machine. Those who attend
the festivities are encouraged to bring
their lawn chairs. Concessions will
be available, and kites and kite supplies will be available at the event to
purchase.
Kite Komotion was organized by
the LaGrange Communities Youth
Centers, Inc. (LCYC), along with the
help of Head Over Heels, a corporate
