Beth Sherman Named Indiana Chamber
Executive Of The Year
Beth Sherman, Executive Director
of the LaGrange County Chamber of
Commerce, recently received recognition as the Chamber Executive of the
Year by her statewide peer network.
The Indiana Chamber Executives Association selected Sherman as this
year’s honoree based on her proven
community leadership, successes in
membership growth and innovation
with programming.
Sherman was nominated for this
award by Sandy Ringler, Vice President
of the LaGrange County Chamber of
Commerce. In the nomination, Ringler
wrote, “Having Beth Sherman as our
executive director is the reason the LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce
is as successful as it is. Beth’s dynamic
personality and professionalism are
second to none.”

Sherman commented, “ It was
quite a surprise when they started
reading, at the conference, the script
about the person that had won. The
first thing they said, was this person
never expected to be in the chamber
business, and the next thing they said,
was this person was hired as temporary help, and then I started putting
two and two together.” After the
official announcement of her nomination Beth said, “It took three hours for
my heart to start beating normally.
She concluded by stating, “It’s quite
an honor and I just love what I do and
evidently it shows.”
Sherman began her tenure with
the chamber in 2006. When she was
hired, the chamber had 146 members.
Under Sherman’s leadership, the chamber membership has grown to 393
members.
