Basketball season is officially over at Westview High School. The Warriors season ended with a 70-51 loss to heavily favored Bowman Academy. This loss made the Warriors finish their season at a great mark of 21-6. If anyone associated with Westview basketball would have been told before the season that they would finish this season with such a great record, I don’t think many would have believed it. After the team lost Justin Jantzi, Seth Wagler, Dom Neely, Kurt Lambright, and Adam Castle, it seemed as if the Warriors were in for a tough year. However, with the senior leadership that Brant Yoder provided, as well as Adrian Brandenberger and Jerry Schwartz, the team played strong the entire year. The Warriors overcame some adversity this season as one of their leading scorers, Kyle Miller, was suspended for the first six games of the season. Overall, with the team making it as far this season as last, this was a year that will be remembered. Next season, the strong junior class will be leading the team. The twin powers of Nic and Nate Raber, Kyle Miller, Devin Aspy, and Brett Yoder will make up a strong squad. You can also expect sophomores Jordyn Bontrager and Judah Zickafoos to make an impact even more so than they did this season. Freshmen Chandler Aspy and Bucky Carpenter should also see some playing time for Coach Yoder’s Warriors next year. As the Warriors progress as a team, you can expect them to keep improving and hopefully they will be heading to the dome this time next season.
