have a major influence on how well
the team does,” said Bender. “Also as
a senior, I want the underclassmen to
see through me, what hard work and
dedication means and what it can accomplish. That goes for the rest of my
teammates as well.”
The seniors will be the biggest part
of the team but there are some freshman that will prove valuable. Bender
cited Kaitlyn Warren and Maddie
Jones as two freshman who will prove
themselves as “assets” to the team.
Another big part of the team are
the coaches. Jon Cook and his assistants are working very hard towards
improving. “The coaches have been
great first of all, for dealing with the
dynamic group of girls that we are,
but also in finding the right ways to
motivate us to want to do well. The
new assistant coaches Mike Watts and
Nate Mauck bring great knowledge and
motivation also that will be beneficial
to us,” stated Bender.
The team is very talented this year
and their strengths include their experience and the individual greatness of
each member. However, the team lacks
depth. “We are a well rounded team
but there is very little depth if injuries
were to occur,” Bender said.
The girls are on pace to have a
terrific season. They will have to prove
their talent in the Conference and Sectional meets. I’m sure you will see quite
a few Warriors in the post-season.
