Page 7 574-903-1672 to remind all motorists that Indiana Statute IC 9-21-8-35 requires drivers to yield the right-of-way to all emergency vehicles, including Police, Fire, and EMS. Emergency vehicles are responding to calls that require quick and immediate responses in order to save lives, preserve property, and maintain the well being of the general public. When vehicles refuse to yield the right-of-way to these vehicles it slows first responders in protecting the general public, creates unsafe situations, and is ILLEGAL. A good reminder is to treat all emergency vehicles as if the vehicles are responding to an emergency call that directly affects you. Most people would desperately want the police, fire, or EMS to respond unobstructed and in the most expeditious fashion to a call that would directly affect them and their loved ones. Your continued support and cooperation is always sincerely appreciated. -Make it a great April! It is once again time to start getting any unwanted items ready for sale, as the 2011 Shipshewana Town Wide Garage Sale will be held on May 13th and 14th this year. Last year, the Town Council decided to set a permanent date for all future Town Wide Garage Sales, which is the first Friday and Saturday after the Mayfest celebration. If you do live in town and are going to hold a garage or yard sales, remember to stop at the Town Hall during business hours to get a permit. The fee is only $1. Town of Shipshewana residents are allowed up to three garage or yard sales per address per year. Each permit is good for three consecutive days with the exception of someone wanting to hold a sale on Friday, Saturday and Monday. Another positive sign of spring is the appearance of construction work. Niblock Excavating and Asphalt, the contractor responsible for the construction improvements on CR 250 North just west of Shipshewana, has advised that work on the project will resume on March 28th.
