April 2011 International Kite Teams To Perform In Shipshewana Dazzling, colorful, and unusual kites will soar over the Shipshewana skies during the first Kite Komotion Clinic and Festival slated to be held on April 30, 2011. The fun begins at 11 am and continues until 4 pm at the Shipshewana Town Center and Hostetler Hudson Auto Museum located at 720 S. Van Buren St., Shipshewana, Indiana and is free to the public. This family-oriented event will feature two International Kite Teams who will perform stunts and demonstrations to music, offer free stunt kite lessons, and orchestrate games and candy drops for children of all ages. Free kite making will be offered by the Hoosier Kiteflyers Society. The LaGrange Communities Youth Centers, Inc., obtained grants from local organizations and along with the help of Head Over Heels, LLC, a corporate sponsor, have organized this event to provide an opportunity for families to experience an old fashioned activity in a new and exciting way at no cost. Michelle Myers, Program Coordinator of LCYC, stated, “This event reflects the mission of our organization to provide our county youth with meaningful, positive activities and experiences.” The Kite Komotion will take place on several fields. Teams of flyers will maneuver their kites through a series of precision figures, demonstrate formation flying and fly to music at the “Demo Field.” Scheduled to perform stunts and maneuvers are International Kite Teams, “Chicago Fire” and “The Windjammers.” These teams compete in Kite Flying contests and perform exhibitions around the world. The Windjammers specialize in trains of kites. Each pilot is flying a train of 10 or more kites. Both teams are always eager to assist beginners and can regularly be seen helping others get their kites aloft into the awaiting skies. They offer spectacular eye popping performances. The teams will also organize and facilitate the candy drop and games for children in the Demo field. Surrounding the “Demo field” will be the “Learn to Fly” field, where people will have the opportunity to try their hand at stunt flying. There will be a “Family Fly” field, where families can fly their single line kites Over 100 Stoves on Display Up to 20% Off Select, In Stock, Freestanding, Wood, Gas & Pellet Stoves!
