We are always looking for more hometown news to publish. Part of the reason we have been able to keep
advertising rates in our paper so low and distribute them for free in our local area
is because we rely heavily on the community and the schools to help provide news.
Hoopingarner Takes Step Towards Being a Fireman
Corey is the manager of
the Westview JV-Varsity Basketball team. This is his third
year managing for Westview.
Corey has also received
the Principal’s Dozen award
at Westview and Student
Ambassador Award several
times at Westview.
Corey is 17 years old and
a Junior at Westview High School. His Mom, Brothers,
Grandma, & Grandpa are very proud of him.

Westview Grad Leads Cornerstone Team to National Title
Cornerstone College, in Grand Rapids, Michigan captured its second NAIA Division II Men's Basketball
National Championship with an 80-71 win over 3 Saint Francis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the championship
game. The Golden Eagles, who also won the 1999 national title, finished off their impressive season with a 34-4
overall record. The 2011 event was held at the Ketter Gymnasium on the campus of College of the Ozarks, in
Missouri with 32 teams from across the country participating.
Justin Yoder, former Westview standout, is a member of Cornerstone's championship team. He led the
team in scoring at 12.2 points per game. He also led the team in 3-point shooting at 43 percent, and in free
throws hitting 82 percent.
Cornerstone dedicated the season and National Championship to 8-year old Johnny Teis , a former
Cornerstone ball boy, who is dying of brain cancer.

In February, Corey Mitchell Hoopingarner placed
third in a regional SKILLS USA competition for his
fire fighting class at the Elkhart area Career Center.
Corey's placement qualifies him for the State competition in Indianapolis, April 15 and 16. SKILLS USA
is a national organization.
The National Technical Honor Society at the Career
Center has named Corey a member. This program is for
students maintaining an A grade and attendance that
is almost perfect. Students are selected by committee.
His teacher, Mr. McCrindle shared, "In my opinion
he is most qualified for this. I am very happy with Corey
and where he is going in life.
