With the first day of spring comes talk of warmer
days and summer activities. One such activity that
is looked forward to by many is Mayfest. This year,
Mayfest will be held on May 6 and 7 and will include
the big tent again.
Some shows for you to look forward to include
John Dudley’s comedy magic show, various musicians,
Rozz puppets, and the music program students from
Westview. Also be looking for some of the same activities
that have become favorites at Mayfest such as the buggy
races, 3-on-3 basketball tournaments, the pony pull,
the garden tractor pull, road and trail/fun run, and
the Mayfest parade.
Be looking for a more complete schedule in next
month’s issue.

Sixth Annual Mayfest Road And Trail Run
On Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 8:00am, Shipshewana
will host the sixth annual Mayfest Road & Trail 4 mile
run as part of if its annual Mayfest celebration. A 1-mile
non-competitive walk and a 1-mile fun-run for kids ages
13 and under will also be held in conjunction with the
road and trail race. Participants of all ages are welcome.
This year, there will be a chip timing system for

to improve the overall race day experience in many
aspects including timing accuracy and timeliness of
posting results.
Cost is $20 day of race or $17 pre-race registration
for the 4-mile run and $10 day of race or pre-race for
the 1-mile walk and 1-mile kid’s fun run.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Bret and
Vickie Smith Family of Howe, Indiana. Bret and Vickie
have three daughters: Chyanna (age 14) and twins
Arianna and Kiara (age 11).
In August 2010, Chyanna was diagnosed with
