HOMETOWN ADVANTAGE OCTOBER 26, 2019 of real people who are in awe of the forgiveness they’ve found in Jesus and are excited to share that good news with others. Pastor Matt said, “We will love you where you are and love you enough not to leave you there. We have found grace, mercy, and forgiveness and we want to extend that to everyone who comes through our doors.” COURTNEY LUKE MATT TAMI HERB The Cumberland Church Leadership Team is here to help you, inspire you and love you just the way you are! No perfect people here! Cumberland Community from pg. 5 Peace Truck taking peace and good news everywhere they go. You may have seen the Peace Truck in the 4th of July parade or at the Wind Down Wednesdays at Hunter Park but its primary use is to bless children in distressed communities, apartment complexes and mobile home parks throughout Douglas County. Cumberland Community Church describes itself as an intentional multi- ethnic, gospel centered, community engaging, Jesus exalting church! Pastor Matt said, “In a time when people are divided and polarized by color, culture and class, we need the church to be the most inclusive space and place to love and embrace all people. We all have the same Father.” “Not only is our church diverse, but so is our leadership team. Nationally only 14% of all churches are multiethnic, meaning they have at least 20% minority attendance. More churches, even in a changing Douglas County, are working towards being more inclusive and sensitive to authentic diversification to show a more credible witness for the God that can transcend our unique differences.” The church motto is, “We are redeemed messy people pointing other messy people to the gospel of Jesus Christ.” This is a refreshing approach in a day when less people attend church, as they see it as a place of hypocrites and condemnation. Cumberland Community Church is a place of grace and a safe place for people who are messy, broken, confused, skeptical and hurting. It is an authentic faith community made up PAGE 13 Cumberland Community Church is a non-denominational, casual, contemporary church that welcomes you to join them at their Grand Opening in their new Location on November 3rd or any Sunday at 10:00 am.
