Days and Days past and Daniel showed everyone that he was better than all the other presidents and satraps (Daniel 6: 3-4). The king was going to make Daniel ruler of the whole kingdom. The presidents and satraps plotted against Daniel (Daniel 6). They said to the King, all the presidents, prefects and satraps agreed that for thirty days everyone should only pray to you! If one does not, one should be put into the lion's den (Daniel 6: 6-10).
Daniel knew this was signed but still continued to pray to God. Finally he was caught, and was sent before the king. The King was sad that this had happened and tried to save him but was forced to put him in the lion's den.
He said, "May your God, whom you faithfully serve, deliver you!" (Daniel 6: 16-17).
Early the next morning:
King: "O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God whom you faithfully serve been able to deliver you from the lions?" (Daniel 6: 20-21).
Daniel: "O King, live forever. My God has sent his angels and shut the mouths of the lions!" (Daniel 6: 21-22).
The King then pulled Daniel out, and threw all his accusers into the Den where the lion killed them.
