AUTUMN OPEN October 20 - 21 | TWIN ORCHARD CC The 2018 Mid-American Junior Golf Tour Season concluded with the Autumn Open after weather caused the 36-hole event to be shortened to 27-holes. In the Boys Division, Aidan Lafferty (2019) of Downers Grove, Ill., finished atop the leaderboard with a 4-over-par 109 total. In the Girls Division, Shannyn Vogler (2022) of Sherrard, Ill., carded a 3-over-par 115 tournament total to take top honors. The MAJGT Autumn Open was a two day, 27-hole event contested on the White Course at Twin Orchard Country Club. The field featured 76 junior golfers ages 12-18 from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin. This event was nationally recognized by Junior Golf Scoreboard and the players had the opportunity to earn AJGA PBE Stars. Lafferty entered the final-round in the top spot on the leaderboard after carding a 3-over-par 73 during the first round. Lafferty’s final round included one birdie. This was his third MAJGT victory in 2018, his first two coming at the Donald Ross Classic and the Notre Dame Classic. Coming in runner-up in the Boys Division was Matthew James (2019) of Orland Park, Ill., who carded a 6-over-par 111 tournament total. Tied for third place were Robert Beaubien Jr. (2019) of Barrington, Ill., and Charles Haggerty (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., who each carded a 7-over-par 112 total. Rounding out the top five, after each carding an 8-over-par 113 were: Connor Neighbors (2019) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Daniel Tanaka (2020) of Wilmette, Ill.; Maxwell Rockrohr (2020) of Willow Springs, Ill.; Charlie Creamean (2021) of Winnetka, Ill.; Sam Davis (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill.; and Sean Markham (2020) of Barrington, Ill. In the Girls Division, Vogler carded a 2-over-par 76 during the opening round, giving her a five shot lead going into the final round. Her final round included one birdie and six pars, moving her tournament total to 3-over-par 115. This was her second MAJGT victory of the 2018 season, her first came at the North Shore Open. Coming in runner-up was Lexi Schulman (2023) of Vernon Hills, Ill., who carded a 9-over-par 121 tournament total. Rounding out the top three was Sunbi Kwon (2021) of Orland Park, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 10-over- par 122 total. The Hole Story // December 2018 19
