ALUMNI IN THE HEADLINES
PERKINS DEFEATS
WALLACE AT CDGA
IJGA alumni, and ISU teammates, David
Perkins and Trent Wallace went head-
to-head in a playoff at the 99th CDGA
Amateur Championship. Perkins sank
a birdie putt on the fifth playoff hole
to win the title after the championship
match was shortened from 36 holes
to 18 holes due to weather conditions.
“I’m just truly honored to win the
tournament at a course like Briarwood
Country Club,” said Perkins, a junior at
Illinois State University. “It was a great
venue all week. To add my name to the
list of some of the better golfers in the
Chicago area that have come through
and won this event, I’m really honored.”
HAHN CLAIMS ILLINOIS STATE AMATEUR TITLE
IJGA alumnus Jordan Hahn finished the Illinois State Amateur, a 72-hole championship hosted
at Bloomington Country Club, at 3-under-par 277, one shot better than fellow IJGA alumnus Rob
Wuethrich. Hahn, now a senior at the University of Wisconsin, entered the final day with a three-
stroke advantage and built his lead to six shots heading to the back nine of his fourth round.
However, bogeys on Nos. 10, 15 and 17, combined with two birdies over the final five holes from
Wuethrich, resulted in Hahn needing par on No. 18 to win the championship, which he was able to
get. Fellow IJGA alumni, Charlie Nikitas, Daniel Gorman and Trent Wallace, also joined Hahn and
Wuethrick in the top five at the Illinois State Amateur.
