The Hole Story Vol. 15, Issue 2 | Page 3

FROM THE DESK OF OUR Executive Director Dear Reader, Another season has come and nearly gone, and what a season it was. I would like to thank every single one of our members, their families, our interns and the courses that helped make the 2018 season possible. Without your continued support, the sustainability and growth of the IJGA would not be possible. There are only a few events left in 2018, which means we are officially winding down for the year. We experienced drastically increased levels of rainfall this year, particularly in the month of June, which forced 11 events to be rescheduled or canceled entirely. Needless to say, mother nature sent our staff on a scramble drill on multiple occasions. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank our membership for their understanding during these events that were weather-altered, and for bearing with us while we worked with the courses to reschedule. I want to make special mention of a fabulous treat that many of our members had the chance to experience at The Day with Kevin Streelman event on July 9th, at Cantigny Golf. The IJGA can’t thank Kevin, and his wife Courtney, enough for their generosity in supporting the IJGA Golf Marathon Fund, which was established to give access to junior golfers who otherwise would not have the financial means to participate in the IJGA. Kevin gave an entire day of his time to support this cause and give back to the IJGA and junior golf in Illinois, and even personally matched a very generous donation made by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. Read more about this special event inside this issue! On behalf of the entire IJGA staff, I want to wish a big congratulations to the class of 2018, leaving their junior golf days behind them as many of them head off to play collegiate golf this fall. Also, good luck to all of the players competing on their high school teams! Thank you in advance for taking the time to flip through this issue of The Hole Story! I look forward to a great finish to the 2018 season and can’t wait to see what 2019 has to offer. Yours Sincerely, JORDAN ABDEL-HAQ Executive Director, IJGA The Hole Story // August 2018 3
