The 2018 Challenge Cup was played at Weaver Ridge Golf Club
in Peoria, Illinois. The IJGA Team took the lead on the first day,
earning 4.5 points to the Prep Tour Team’s 3.5 points. The first day
consisted of eight partner matches, the first six holes were best
ball, the next six holes were alternate shot and the final six holes
were a scramble.
The final day consisted of 16 singles matches. Two matches ended
all-square, while the IJGA team won only three matches, before
ultimately being defeated by the Prep Tour Team who earned a
total of 15.5 points to the IJGA Team’s 8.5 points.
The Challenge Cup is a match play event, which puts the IJGA
against the Prep Tour. The event, which began in 2015, brings
together some of the top junior golfers in the state of Illinois to
compete for the Challenge Cup. This was the first ever victory for
the Prep Tour in the event, with the IJGA winning the first three
years of the event’s existence from 2015-2017.
