The Illinois Section of the PGA of America has several scholarship available to junior golfers. The
applications for these scholarships will be available in April and links to these applications can be
found on the IJGA’s website once they are published.
Louis M. Brown Scholarship Don Pieper Scholarship
The Louis M. Brown Scholarship is open
to men entering their freshman year of
college in the fall who: have excelled in golf,
accomplished academic excellence, and
have demonstrated outstanding leadership
in his community. This scholarship is open
to all men who are residents of Illinois, have
been accepted at an accredited institution of
higher learning for the next academic year,
and who will continue their competitive golf
career in college. The Don Pieper Scholarship seeks to
encourage and promote the attainment
of higher education goals for youth in
the following two categories: 1) children,
grandchildren, child-in-laws, nieces or
nephews of Illinois Section PGA members
and 2) Illinois residents pursuing a degree in
Professional Golf Management (PGM). Up to
six scholarships will be awarded to individuals
who fit these categories and who are
currently enrolled at an institution of higher
learning, or who have been accepted at an
accredited institution of higher learning for
the upcoming academic year starting in the
fall. Applicants will be evaluated on academic
achievement as well as extracurricular and
community involvement.
Alice Meyer Brown Scholarship
The Alice Meyer Brown Scholarship seeks
to encourage and promote the attainment
of higher educational goals for women who
have excelled in golf, achieved academic
excellence, and proven to be a leader in the
community. The recipient of this scholarship
must be a resident of Illinois, have been
accepted at an accredited institution of higher
learning for the upcoming school year, and
will continue their competitive golf career in
college.
Oscar Miles Scholarship
The Oscar Miles / Illinois PGA Foundation
Scholarship Award seeks to encourage and
promote the attainment of higher education
goals for Illinois youth pursuing a degree in
Turfgrass Management / Agronomy.
