The IJGA Golf Marathon will return this year with the hopes of raising $100,000 to support the future of junior golf in the state of Illinois. This event, which takes place every other year, is the largest fundraiser the IJGA hosts. In 2016, the Golf Marathon raised just over $32,000. The best year on record was 2009 where the participants were able to raise $70,000 in a single day! What it is... Participants sign up to play 100 holes in a single day. The event is played on a par 3 course and golfers will play multiple balls on each hole, each ball counting for a hole played. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. What else you should know... The event will be held on Friday, September 7, at Cantigny Youth Links. Each participant is expected to gather at least $2,500 in donations, if you break it down that would be 25 donors at $1 per hole ($100 total donation). Can’t participate on the date? That’s ok too, you can still raise money towards the $100k goal. Junior golfers are encouraged to participate by joining AJGA’s Leadership Links program and selecting the IJGA as their charity. The money raised by the Golf Marathon provides financial assistance to junior golfers in need, as well as the enhancement of the IJGA and MAJGT programming.
