The Hole Story Vol. 15, Issue 1 | Page 3

FROM THE DESK OF OUR Executive Director Dear Reader, The 2018 Season is now upon us! In the office, our staff is busy finalizing last minute details before the season officially gets underway. Needless to say, we are excited to get back out to our wonderful host courses and see all of our members! This year we welcome a new manager of the Mid-American Junior Golf Tour, Read Langhenry. Read replaces Elisa Hermes who left last year after accepting a position with the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Another major change this year comes in the Youth Development Program. Starting in 2018, the 10-11 Division will earn Player of the Year points based on their finishes at point awarding events. This POY Points Race, along with other requirements, will be used to determine who is invited to the two-day YDP Player of the Year Championship at the end of the season. In other news, IJGA alumnus Doug Ghim will be competing in his first Masters Tournament this week. Doug earned his invitation after finishing runner-up last August at the U.S. Amateur at Riviera Country Club. We remain very proud of Doug’s unbelievable success as he has continued his amateur career and couldn’t be happier for him with this incredible opportunity in front of him. Inside this issue, you will also find information about scholarships for high school seniors, as well as information about financial assistance for IJGA/MAJGT membership and events. There are also some reminders about your membership benefits and information about the updated Debbie’s Corner. We hope you are as excited as we are for the new season to begin! Thank you for taking the time to flip through The Hole Story. Yours Sincerely, JORDAN ABDEL-HAQ Executive Director, IJGA The Hole Story // April 2018 3
