MAJGT NEWS A NOTE FROM MATT SENIOR DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING With the MAJGT season winding down and only two events left on the schedule, I thought I would highlight the Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking and the American Junior Golf Association Performance Based Entry. All MAJGT tournaments were recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard for 2017. 13 of 16 MAJGT tournaments for the Boys Division were recognized by the AJGA with a total of 172 PBE stars awarded. For the Girls Division, 15 of 16 MAJGT tournaments were recognized by the AJGA with a total of 121 PBE stars awarded. If you look at similar junior golf tours, the MAJGT provides the best opportunity to secure AJGA PBE stars. One great aspect about our large field sizes for the MAJGT is that the AJGA recognizes the top 10% of the field provided that event has 55+ boys or 30+ girls. While this only happens a few times for the Girls Division, this happens more often than not for the Boys Division. This is very beneficial for the player that doesn’t play as well in the first round but puts together a great second round score and sneaks into the top 10%. If you plan to play in the MAJGT Autumn Open at Thunderhawk Golf Club on October 21st-22nd, spots are filling quickly as this event historically has had a waitlist. Thunderhawk Golf Club is a new addition to the 2017 MAJGT schedule and was designed by well-known golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr. 34 Illinois Junior Golf Association
