Playing golf in the Post-Season The summer is officially over with many of our members having gone back to school, but that doesn’t mean the golf season is over! Not only does the Youth Development Program offer several multi-day tournaments and after school leagues, but there are also other options such as the PGA Jr Leagues, golf academies, after school junior golf programs at various courses and more! Once a player has made a high school golf team, they are unable to play in outside events during the course of the IHSA season, but not making a high school team doesn’t mean the season should be over. Practicing throughout the off season can help a player to keep their swing tournament ready and help a player to be ready for the next golf season when it comes. Not in high school yet? That’s ok too! There are a number of great opportunities to play golf and improve your game through not only the Illinois Elementary School Association, but also through the IJGA. It’s always a good idea to keep up with your game in the off season so you are ready to start playing golf in the Spring when events start up again. The IJGA even offers an event at TopGolf during President’s Day weekend to help encourage players to keep up with their games. Looking for one last event this fall? The Fall Jr Elite #3 @ Winnetka which will be played on October 14-15 at Winnetka GC still has spots available in certain divisions! The Hole Story // September 2017 25
